“ This was a popular spot that served traditional New Orleans cuisine along with their famous oysters. The service was very friendly, and the food came out in a timely matter. To start, a half dozen of raw and chargrilled oysters (Market Price) were ordered. The raw oysters were fresh and of appropriate size. They were served with a spicy cocktail sauce. This was solid, fresh and a little heat from the cocktail sauce enhanced them. The chargrilled were cooked in an herb butter sauce and topped with a special blend of cheese. This was great. The char along with the butter and cheese really made for an appetizing oyster. The bread that was provided really soaked up that herb butter sauce as well. I could not believe how good these were. I also had a fried shrimp po-boy ($15.99). The sandwich consisted of the classic lettuce, tomato, mayo, and pickles. There was also plenty of fried shrimp pieces. The shrimp were fried ideally with a good balance of breading and shrimp. The bread was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. It held up with the filing. We also had a side of hushpuppies ($4.29) that were fried perfectly and came out piping hot. They were nicely done too. Will I go back? Yup. ”
“ This place has no frills, but wow are the char grilled oysters good! We ate oysters every chance we got, cooked and not, and these are the ones I'm still craving. Piping hot, flavorful, abundant. I will go here twice on my next trip. The ambiance gives hamburger spot, and the service is very matter of fact. Don't come here for those. Get the char grilled oysters and be happy. ”
“ I ate here for lunch. Only waited several minutes outside for an available table. They have delicious chargrilled and raw oysters at reasonable prices for the French Quarter. I liked the fried alligator appetizer too. Friendly customer service. ”
“ Stop looking for anything else... stop by, start with The most delicious fresh oysters as appetizer, then get the chargrilled oysters (don't hold back! Eat one, two, three dozen!!) and finish with the boom boom shrimp! You're welcome!!! ”
“ This was our first time ever having oysters while in New Orleans, and we went to the spectacular restaurant based on all the reviews! When we got there, we were surprised to see there was actually a line to get in, and we had to wait outside, but at least there was an overhang since it was raining!! Once our family of eight got inside we were able to watch the game and sit back by the freezer which was really interesting to see all the work that the chef put in!! Our server wasn't as friendly as the lady we had at breakfast, at the red slipper, but our food was delicious and well worth the 15 minute wait! We got an order of the barbecued oysters, which had a delicious sauce to them and bread as well as freshwater oysters to try both versions! I believe the fresh oysters were $21 and the barbecued oysters were $24- it was a month ago I went, so I'm sorry I could have the price number wrong. Everything was delicious and I will definitely go back again. The ambience is basically like a traditional sports bar and my nephews, that are nine and three years old sat perfectly fine at the table with everything going on they were entertained. Lol I can't wait to go back to New Orleans!! ”
“ This is one of our regular spots when we visit but it's been a few years since we've come to New Orleans. I was happy to know the quality was the same. As usual it was a line to get in but the line went fast; granted this was a weekday (Monday). I've been on the weekend and the like didn't go this fast. The hostess was kind and welcoming. Our server as Helen and she didn't seem as attentive as we'd like at first, but it got better. The atmosphere is the same fun, casual setting. We ordered a half dozen raw oysters, two dozen oyster Rockefeller with crab meat, seafood gumbo, fried crab claws and Rockefeller soup. There was nothing left but crumbs. Delish as usual! Still a must eat when we visit!!! ”
